POKOTABI / Omoutsubo
オモウツボ
Omoutsubo is a Sangenjaya bar-izakaya set in a renovated traditional house. Enjoy cured ham, ajillo, fresh pasta, wines, and sours across its standing counter and table seating.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Occupying a renovated two-storey traditional wooden house, Sangenjaya’s Omoutsubo operates as a casual bar-izakaya suited to both a quick drink and an unhurried dinner. The ground floor features a standing counter tailored for brief stops, while the second floor provides table seating, making the space adaptable whether chosen as the opening venue or a later stop on a crawl.
The menu centers on small plates crafted to pair with wine and beer. Diners often order several sharing dishes at once, such as thinly sliced cured ham, an aromatic mixed ajillo, or spiral-cut curly fries. For more substantial dining, options include skirt steak, fresh pasta to finish the meal, and hearty bowls of Okinawa soba.
The beverage selection is equally wide-ranging, featuring orange and white wines alongside colorful sours served in glassware adorned with moray eel illustrations. Offerings such as a chunky mikan sour packed with fruit, refreshing highballs, and craft beers make selecting drinks an engaging part of the evening.
With hours extending late into the night, the venue is a practical destination after late work hours or as a closing stop on a night out around Sangenjaya. Securing a table booking is worthwhile for longer stays, while the ground-floor standing area remains ready for spontaneous drop-ins.
